Georgette is a lightweight, airy fabric that, due to its delicate structure, can be sheer. To ensure adequate coverage for a georgette dress or skirt, multiple layers of the fabric or an additional layer of opaque material should be used.


If sewing a skirt using only georgette, it is recommended to use five layers of fabric to minimize transparency while maintaining a beautiful, airy effect. Alternatively, fewer layers can be used by adding a single layer of opaque material, such as lining, satin chiffon, or satin.
